Saltine

The owners of Nashville’s Saltine called for a total reinvention of their new home on West End, just a few blocks from downtown: a brawny brewery space once filled with browns and brick needed to become a bright, lively seafood restaurant and bar. Powell transformed the large space in both form and function, filling the airy layout with playful nods to water elements: beach-y furnishings, a palette of deep navy and vibrant aqua blue, original artwork imbued with ocean imagery and custom tile work playing off the classic Olympic swimming pool. Once heavy with brews and big burgers, the space became vibrant, fresh and light, accommodating 235 guests in the main restaurant with an additional 35 at the bar, plus two private dining rooms and a large outdoor patio.
